Dance Parties

A pass for 4 parties (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday) is available on the registration form: 75 €.
You can also buy it directly at the entrance of the Friday opening party.

The Closure Party on Thursday evening is NOT included in all Pass. You need to book it on the registration form.

The welcome party will be held at the Pierre & Vacances Residence in Mandelieu from 21h30 to 2h.

The Congress Exhibition Centre is immediately accessible from « Mandelieu-La Napoule » exit N°40 on highway A8, 150 metres away.

Preliminary Competitions for Jack'n'Jill Amateur, Jack'n'Jill Pro, Open Classic Amateur and Open Classic Pro from 21h30 to 22h30.

Dance Party with the great Italian Band Nine Pennies from 22h30 to 3h.

"The Nine Pennies" Orchestra was born in 1998. The band plays the style and repertoire of the Roaring Twenties "white" bands, mainly Jean Goldkette's, Bix Beiderbecke's and Paul Whiteman's bands.
Famous and exciting tunes written by artists such as Carmichael, Beiderbecke, Ellington, Rodgers, Williams…
The wonderful arrangements have been written by two faboulous italian jazzmen : Red Pellini (Baritone Sax) and Giorgio Cuscito (Piano)
The Nine Pennies took part (among others) to the following International events :

• 2003 : Jazz Parade in Fribourg (Switzerland)
• 2004 : Festival Internationale de Jazz de Saint-Raphael (France)
• 2006 : Pino Torinese – 8th New Orleans Jazz Festival
• 2006 : Lago d'Orta – 6th Miasino Classic Jazz Festival

• 2009 : Jazz Parade in Fribourg (Switzerland)

In a sense the Lindy (later called jitterbug), is choreographed swing music.
There is a well definite rhythmic continuity. When we were assigned the task to recreate a band like the famous swing formation of the thirties we had really nothing in hand, except for a big record collection from which take an inspiration and a great group of dancers to look at.
But "those" were no less than Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Chick Webb, all the Lindy hoppers. What a challenge for an Italian group of musicians!
Well, the pulsating heart of NP Big Band is the well known Nine Pennies Band, so we had a good starting point.

Then a long search among friends to complete the formation followed, and the first few charts were written, listening carefully to the records spending long afternoons on the keyboard.
What else? The dream became true. NP Big Band is a "band of brothers", in which the atmosphere is relaxed, everyone likes to play this music and no "prima donna" are allowed. Well, we DO have a prima donna, but Erica, "the lady who swings the band" deserves it in full.
Every tune is played with enthusiasm, you will hear the fantastic drive of the rhythmic section, the powerful brass, the swinging but, when necessary, sweetest reeds…
We are sure that somewhere in the skies Benny, Artie and the other Greats, listening to some of our better passages, will comment: "go on, you kids!"

BE CAREFUL for the show and the party the seated places will not be numbered, but tickets could be bought before the party (call 06 64 20 83 98) or at the entrance.
